Data centers are turning to old jet engines as the wait for power grows
Tuesday, November 3, 2026
Data center developers are using decommissioned jet engines to power their facilities due to lengthy delays in accessing electrical grid connections and obtaining new turbines. The jet engines are less efficient and produce higher emissions than standard power generation equipment. Several data center operators have installed or are installing these engines as a temporary measure while waiting for grid access and new turbine deliveries.
