Common antibiotic linked to higher risk of death in adults, major study finds

A study analyzing 110 clinical trials found that adults treated with the antibiotic cefepime had a 94.4% higher probability of all-cause mortality compared to those treated with other beta-lactam drugs. The research compared cefepime to alternative antibiotics within the same drug class. The study's findings have not yet been independently confirmed by regulatory agencies.
