Tankers U-Turn in Hormuz, With Some Taking Iran Route Instead

At least eight ships turned back while transiting the Persian Gulf near the Omani coast between Friday and Saturday. Some of those vessels subsequently completed their transits using a route closer to the Iranian coast. The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical shipping corridor through which roughly one-third of global seaborne oil passes.
