Trump’s EPA wants to let data centers hide their air pollution

Friday, August 28, 2026

The EPA announced plans to eliminate a federal rule requiring public notice and opportunity for public comment when certain industrial sites obtain air pollution permits. The rule change would apply to data centers and other facilities. Data centers have faced opposition from neighboring communities in recent years. The EPA has not yet provided a final implementation date for the proposed change.
