Mark Carney, Canada's Prime Minister, has attracted record foreign investment to the country, with foreigners investing $183 billion in Canadian stocks and bonds over the past year. Bloomberg News Editor-in-Chief Emeritus Matt Winkler attributed the investment inflow to Canada's government policies and Carney's international profile, noting that Carney is "somebody the world knows very well." Carney previously served as Governor of the Bank of Canada and as a member of Bloomberg's Board of Directors.
