Anthropic, OpenAI among firms facing new scrutiny under EU AI Act enforcement powers

The European Commission gained authority under the EU AI Act to demand inspections of AI models, restrict market access for noncompliant providers, and impose fines up to 15 million euros or 3 percent of annual turnover. Anthropic and OpenAI are among the companies subject to these enforcement powers. The Commission's inspection authority applies to high-risk AI systems and those designated as having systemic risk.
