'Son of Sam' Berkowitz doesn't 'trust the media' 50 years after terrorizing city with letters to newspaper

David Berkowitz, convicted of six murders in New York City between 1976 and 1977, told reporters he does not trust the media and has declined interview requests. Berkowitz, who communicated with newspapers during his crime spree through letters signed "Son of Sam," now refers to himself as the "Son of Hope." He was arrested in August 1977 and has remained incarcerated since then.
