'They fed him his own ears': Top Republican shares horrifying stories of gang rule in Haiti

Republican Representative Brian Mast traveled to Haiti and described conditions including gang violence and kidnapping. Mast stated that gangs have control over portions of the country and cited cases of torture and the kidnapping of a six-year-old U.S. citizen. He compared poverty levels in Haiti to those in Afghanistan. Mast's visit was part of a congressional delegation to the country.
