Shark sightings trigger beach alarm after swimmer is bitten during summer spike

A swimmer was bitten by a shark on the East Coast, and 23 shark sightings were reported in the area during the summer. Beach closures were implemented in response. Increased surveillance protocols are now in place at affected beaches.
