Most people who need glasses don't have them. Can the post office change that?
Saturday, July 11, 2026

The Indian postal service has begun testing eyeglasses distribution at some locations as part of an effort to address gaps in eyewear access. The initiative provides eye examinations and glasses to residents in areas with limited access to optical services. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 760 million people worldwide lack adequate vision correction, with higher rates in low-income regions.
