El Niño Is Already Wreaking Havoc on Pacific Fisheries

The El Niño weather pattern has altered fish populations and catch volumes across the Pacific Ocean. Warm water movement has reduced catches in some fishing regions while increasing them in others. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has been monitoring the phenomenon's effects on commercial fisheries throughout 2025 and 2026.
