U.S. Employers Told to Dismiss Thousands of Immigrant Workers
Saturday, July 11, 2026
U.S. employers with Haitian and other Temporary Protected Status (TPS) workers faced shifting compliance deadlines as TPS designations ended, rendering those workers ineligible to remain in the country. The Department of Homeland Security extended and then adjusted end dates for various TPS categories, creating uncertainty for employers about when workers must be terminated. Businesses were required to verify work authorization status and remove ineligible employees by the applicable deadline for their TPS category.
