Phia accused of ‘cookie stuffing,’ taking affiliate credit on purchases it didn’t earn
Saturday, July 11, 2026
Phia, a shopping startup founded by Phoebe Gates and Sophia Kianni, engaged in cookie stuffing that generated affiliate commissions for purchases the company did not facilitate, according to a Bloomberg investigation. Cookie stuffing places tracking cookies on users' devices to attribute sales to the platform even when customers made purchases through other means. Bloomberg reported the practice allowed Phia to earn commissions without directly driving those sales.
