Parasitic infection causing ‘explosive’ stomach illness exceeds 1,000 cases in northern state

More than 1,000 cases of cyclosporiasis have been diagnosed in Michigan and Ohio, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC is investigating the source of the parasitic infection. Cyclosporiasis is caused by the parasite Cyclospora cayetanensis and spreads through contaminated food or water.
