Waymo’s next robotaxi is a purpose-built Toyota bZ4X

Waymo announced it will use Toyota bZ4X electric vehicles for a robotaxi service launching in Tokyo in 2027. The vehicles will be assembled in Japan and built on the strategic partnership between Waymo and Toyota announced in April 2025. The bZ4X is a purpose-built electric vehicle designed for autonomous operation.
