Trump's VA killed a home loan program. Thousands of veterans are paying the price
Friday, October 30, 2026
The Department of Veterans Affairs ended a home loan program under the Trump administration, according to an NPR investigation. More than 15,000 veterans were subsequently placed into higher-cost home loans, with some paying approximately $1,000 more per month than they would have under the previous program, NPR reported. The VA has not publicly announced a replacement program for the terminated initiative.
