Utah charges Kalshi and its CEO with illegally promoting online gambling

Utah filed 14 criminal charges against Kalshi, a prediction market platform, along with CEO Tarek Mansour and COO Luana Lopes Lara, according to The Salt Lake Tribune and Associated Press. The charges include 12 counts of illegally promoting online gambling. Kalshi operates a platform where users trade contracts based on the outcomes of events, including elections and economic data.
