Apple announces its first touchscreen MacBook Pro

Apple announced its first touchscreen MacBook Pro at a "Pro and Tell" event on Wednesday. The starting price is $2,899, according to TechCrunch. Apple previously resisted touchscreen laptops, with former CEO Tim Cook discussing the company's position against tablet-laptop convergence during a 2012 earnings call. The new MacBook will rely primarily on individual apps to optimize for touch rather than major changes to macOS itself.
