Serial killer Ted Bundy is linked to another Utah teenager’s 1974 murder through DNA testing

DNA evidence linked serial killer Ted Bundy to the 1974 murder of Melissa Ann Smith, a Utah teenager, according to authorities who used advanced DNA technology to solve the cold case decades after Bundy's execution. The New York Times reported that software known as STRmix was instrumental in identifying Bundy's DNA in the decades-old sample. A cold-case detective told Fox News that Bundy may have additional unknown victims beyond those he confessed to or was convicted of.
