Australian murderer loses bid to eat Vegemite in prison

Andre McKechnie, 55, who is serving a life sentence for murder, challenged a ban on Vegemite in prison as a violation of human rights law. McKechnie argued that access to the food product was necessary to exercise his right to Australian culture under the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act. An Australian judge rejected his challenge.
