Fury erupts as US brand fires 1,600 employees after securing thousands of foreign worker visas

Microsoft was approved for 2,273 H-1B visas this year and laid off 1,600 Xbox workers in the same period. The H-1B visa program allows U.S. companies to employ foreign workers in specialty occupations. Microsoft did not publicly state a connection between the two actions.
