US Jobless Claims Little Changed as Layoffs Remain Limited

Initial jobless claims in the United States fell to 215,000 in the week ended July 4, down 2,000 from the prior week. The decrease occurred during a week that included the Independence Day holiday. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg had predicted 217,000 claims for the period.
