Leftist California group pushes to add 'Black English' to schools' multilingual education program

A California advocacy group called BlackECE has called for the inclusion of African American Vernacular English, or AAVE, in the state's dual language learners program. The group argues that AAVE is a legitimate language system that should receive the same educational resources as other languages in multilingual education programs. The proposal would expand California's existing framework for teaching students whose first language is not standard English.
