Selling your home this summer? Your data is already moving

Real estate wire fraud has increased as scammers access property records and personal information through data brokers and people search websites. The FBI reported 4,954 real estate wire fraud complaints in 2023, resulting in losses of approximately $638 million. Home sellers are targeted when their property records become public during listing, making contact information available for purchase through data aggregators. Title companies and escrow services have implemented additional verification protocols in response to the fraud increase.
