There's no treatment designed for the Ebola strain ravaging DRC. But now there's hope
Tuesday, July 7, 2026
A strain of Ebola currently circulating in the Democratic Republic of Congo has no approved treatments or vaccines specifically designed for it. The World Health Organization and health authorities in the DRC have begun three clinical trials testing potential therapeutics and preventive measures for the outbreak. The trials are examining experimental vaccines and antiviral drugs in affected populations. No timeline has been announced for results from the studies.
