Nor’easter vs. Hurricane: What’s the Difference?

A nor'easter and a hurricane are organized storm systems with different structural characteristics. Nor'easters form from colliding cold and warm air masses and typically move along the East Coast, while hurricanes develop over warm ocean water and are powered by heat energy from that water. Both can produce heavy rain, strong winds, and coastal flooding, though hurricanes generally have higher wind speeds and more defined circular structures.
