Appeals court rules that states can regulate Kalshi’s sports prediction markets, dealing another legal blow to platforms

A federal appeals court ruled that states retain authority to regulate sports prediction markets offered by Kalshi, a derivatives trading platform. The decision follows a similar ruling by another appeals court within the previous month on the same regulatory issue. Kalshi had sought to operate prediction markets without state-level restrictions.
