US Consumer Sentiment Falls on Worries About Prices, Economy

The University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index fell in September to its lowest level since May, according to Bloomberg. Respondents reported expectations for price increases over the next twelve months and anticipated an annual inflation rate of 2.8 percent over the next five to ten years, the highest reading since May. Joanne Hsu, director of the survey, stated that consumers across political groups indicated a diminished economic outlook.
