Why High Yields on US Treasury Bonds, Government Debt Look Like the New Normal

Government borrowing costs have increased globally as investors demand higher compensation for holding longer-maturity debt. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced expanded buybacks of long-dated government debt in response to rising yields. Despite this intervention, 10-year Treasury yields exceeded 5% and reached their highest level since the mid-2000s.
