Banks Tap Billions in BOE Repo Cash to Profit on Bond Trades

British banks are using low-cost borrowing from the Bank of England's repo facility to fund bond trading positions. The Bank of England provides short-term liquidity through its sterling repo operations at rates below market levels. Banks can borrow cash cheaply and deploy it into bond markets where potential returns exceed their borrowing costs.
