Qualcomm’s new ‘Elite’ sound chip might finally deliver the Wi-Fi earbud dream

Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon Sound Elite Gen 2, a new audio chip that integrates micro-power Wi-Fi 6E directly into the processor. The chip is designed to enable wireless earbuds and audio glasses to stream lossless audio without disconnecting when a connected smartphone is out of range. Qualcomm stated the technology allows audio devices to maintain their own Wi-Fi connection independent of a paired phone.
