Microsoft puts Brad Smith in charge of communications

Microsoft moved its communications group from marketing into its Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs organization. Vice chair and president Brad Smith will oversee communications while the company searches for a replacement for chief communications officer Frank Shaw, who is departing later in 2026. The restructuring places communications under CELA leadership rather than within the marketing department.
