Why investors aren’t buying yet another attempt by the Treasury to calm the rattled bond market

The U.S. Treasury held auctions for Treasury notes that drew lower-than-expected demand from investors. Treasury officials had announced a program to repurchase government bonds in an attempt to support the market. The consecutive auctions with weak bidding indicate the repurchase program has not increased investor purchases of Treasury bonds so far.
