India Slashes Edible-Oil Duties to Reduce Festival Food Costs

India reduced import duties on crude palm and soybean oils to 27.5 percent from 55 percent, effective immediately. The government said the move aims to lower domestic edible-oil prices ahead of the festival season. India is the world's largest importer of edible oils.
