Fears of return to war grow in Ethiopia's Tigray region

A ceasefire agreement between the Ethiopian federal government and Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) signed in November 2022 has shown signs of strain. The accord has faced challenges including delayed disarmament and limited humanitarian access to the region. Tensions between the parties have increased in 2026 as implementation of the agreement has stalled.
