Experimental vaccine shows promise against dangerous intestinal illness

A vaccine candidate targeting enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) has been licensed to Valneva by the University of Bergen following research conducted over multiple decades. ETEC causes diarrheal illness in travelers and populations in regions with limited sanitation. The licensing agreement transfers development rights from the university's research program to the pharmaceutical company. Valneva will conduct further testing and pursue regulatory approval for the vaccine candidate.
