UK to review Chagos Islands deal after Trump's latest criticism

UK Defence Secretary Wes Streeting confirmed a review of the Chagos Islands agreement following comments from US President Donald Trump. Trump told Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, that the deal was "terrible," according to a statement. The UK handed control of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius in November 2022 after decades of dispute over the territory's sovereignty and the presence of the US military base Diego Garcia.
