IMF tells advanced economies to 'bring debt down' as borrowing costs rise

Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the International Monetary Fund, told the BBC that advanced economies need to reduce their debt levels as borrowing costs increase. Georgieva said economic shocks had raised debt levels significantly. The IMF has previously warned that high debt burdens could constrain fiscal flexibility for governments facing future economic challenges.
