FCC to end Biden-era rule that forces ISPs to list all their fees
Monday, July 6, 2026
The Federal Communications Commission voted to modify its broadband pricing transparency rule, allowing internet service providers to list a single estimated total price instead of itemizing every individual fee. The change reverses an FCC requirement from the Biden administration that required ISPs to disclose all charges including taxes, regulatory fees, and equipment costs. The FCC stated the updated rule would reduce consumer confusion by presenting a simpler price format. ISPs will still be required to disclose their standard rates and any promotional offers, according to the agency.
