Inside a 'modern slavery situation' where cyber scammers are victims themselves

A cybercrime operation in Southeast Asia recruited computer engineers through false job offers and trapped them into conducting fraud schemes that defrauded victims of billions of dollars, according to reporting by Andy Greenberg of Wired. The engineers were held in locations where their movement and communications were restricted, preventing them from leaving or contacting authorities. Greenberg also reported on a separate scam involving Fresh Air.
