Texas Gov. Abbott orders data center permit halt weeks after issuing moratorium

Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued an order halting the approval of data center permits. The order follows a moratorium Abbott announced weeks earlier on such projects. Data centers have become a topic in Abbott's 2026 reelection campaign against Democratic state Representative Gina Hinojosa.
