China Promised to Buy More U.S. Farm Goods. It Hasn’t Happened.

China imported 2.4 million metric tons of U.S. soybeans in 2025, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture data. Imports of other agricultural products including corn, wheat, and cotton remained below levels specified in trade agreements signed between the U.S. and China. A summit between President Trump and Xi Jinping was scheduled for 2026.
