Qatar Says LNG Damage May Take Years to Repair
Sunday, September 20, 2026
Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saoud Al-Thani, governor of Qatar Central Bank and chairman of the Qatar Investment Authority, stated that damage to Qatar's LNG facilities could require two to three years to repair. Al-Thani said the conflict contributed to a 7% economic contraction despite growth in the non-hydrocarbon sector. He added that Qatar's fiscal position has enabled the QIA to continue global investments in technology and artificial intelligence, while the central bank is deploying AI within its own operations.
