Tropical disease spread by mosquitoes claims first recorded death in southern US state

Gay Small, 80, died of dengue fever in Tampa, Florida, according to confirmation by the Florida Department of Health on Friday. Small contracted the virus following a mosquito bite near her home. The death marks the first recorded dengue fatality in Florida.
