The week Gainesville forgot about football: Inside the terror that gripped Florida during the 1990 murders

Danny Rolling killed five University of Florida students in Gainesville in August 1990. The murders occurred over a four-day period from August 24 to August 28. Rolling was arrested on September 1, 1990, and convicted of the five murders in 1994. He was executed in 2006. University of Florida football coach Steve Spurrier's team played Oklahoma State in a home opener on September 1, 1990, the same day Rolling was arrested.
