Disney’s first CTO led an AI startup it once accused of copying its characters

Disney appointed Noam Shazeer as its first chief technology officer. Shazeer previously served as CEO of Character.AI, a startup that Disney sent a cease-and-desist letter to regarding character likenesses. The cease-and-desist was related to Disney's assertion that Character.AI had created characters resembling Disney intellectual property.
