The United Nations established 17 sustainable development goals in 2015 with a target completion date of 2030. Progress toward the goals has been uneven across regions and sectors, with some areas showing advancement and others falling behind established benchmarks. Current tracking data from UN agencies indicates that fewer goals are on pace to be fully achieved by the 2030 deadline than originally anticipated.
