Newsom-backed commission transfers popular coastline to indigenous tribes

Caltrans approved the transfer of Blues Beach and 136 acres of Mendocino County coastline to Kai Poma, marking the first tribal land transfer in California state history. Governor Gavin Newsom's administration supported the transfer through a state commission. The land was previously managed by the state transportation agency.
