Church of England Walks Back Giving Top Interfaith Prize to Man Who Called Osama Bin Laden 'The Sword of God'

The Archbishop of Canterbury rescinded an award given to a Muslim cleric on September 11, 2025, the 25th anniversary of the 2001 attacks. The cleric had previously made statements praising Osama bin Laden. The Church of England did not immediately provide a public explanation for the decision to withdraw the award.
