Yen Declines After BOJ Hike, US Said to Hold Off on New China Tariffs

The Bank of Japan raised its benchmark interest rate by 0.25 percentage points to 1.25%, and the yen declined against the dollar following BOJ Governor Ueda's remarks about future rate decisions. The U.S. is expected to delay announcing new tariffs on China and other trading partners until after a scheduled summit between President Trump and President Xi Jinping next week. Bilfinger CEO Thomas Schulz announced the company would trim its outlook and cut jobs.
